Imphal, October 15 2022: A successful candidate of the 10th and 11th IRB recruitment has expressed gratitude to the government for declaring the results of the recruitment drive.

Interacting with the media at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Sobhajit Angom said that he is thankful to the government for declaring the results even though it was delayed for years.

He also assured of supporting the government's initiative for the welfare of the people, especially the poor and thanked media for bringing up the issue of delaying the recruitment results while calling for respecting the freedom of press by all.

Meanwhile, hours after the long pending results of recruitment for 10th and 11th India Reserve Battalion (IRB) riflemen were declared in the wee hours of Saturday, questions are being raised on the results after detection of mismatch between candidate names and their chest numbers.

A candidate named Moirangthem Jilangamba told The People's Chronicle that he came across some discrepancies in the results of the recruitment declared by the government.

Jilangamba, a resident of Sagolband Sayang Kuraomakhong in Imphal West district, contended that the chest number allotted to him for participation in the recruitment test was 1208.However, in serial number 833 of the result sheets, his chest number is written against the name of one Thingujam Shyamchand Singh (general category) of Kakching district, he said while seeking clarification from the authority.

On the other hand, home department has maintained that the chest number regarding serial number 833 is a typographic mistake and there might be some such errors as well since the list was long.

However, the name of the selected candidate is true and the result will be taken based on the candidate's name, if there is any such typographic mistake in chest numbers.

Results of the 10th and 11th IRB recruitment exam conducted for the post of riflemen were declared in the wee hours of Saturday hours after hundreds of anxious candidate aspirants waited at the police headquarters for the same.

Altogether, 1830 candidates have been declared selected for the post of riflemen in the Manipur Police department while 183 candidates were kept on the waiting list.

The recruitment exam of the 10th and 11th India Reserve Battalion was conducted in November 2019 and since then, the result declaration has been pending leading to several agitations by the aspirants demanding to expedite the recruitment process and fill vacancies in a time-bound manner.

The Director General of Police, Manipur P Doungel, issued a notification on Friday announcing the list of 183 candidates selected for appointment in order of merit as riflemen in the Manipur Police Department subject to police verification and medical examination reports.

As per the notification, the selected candidates have been asked to report to the Inspector General of Police (Administration) at 1st Manipur Rifles, here, for collection of police verification form from October 20 to 22 and submit the same along with relevant documents on or before October 28 .

Mention may be made that there was a massive turnout at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium for the recruitment test.

The state government had to use the giant stadium to accommodate around 20,000 candidates who were called for the written test to fill up 1,350 posts of riflemen for the two IRB battalions.

The candidates who took the written test were called after they were successful in the 'physical efficiency' test held earlier.

The recruitment test was conducted with the deployment of over 200 police personnel comprising officers and constables at the entrance gates to the stadium as well as the gallery.
