Kohima, June 04 2025:
Nagaland deputy chief minister, TR Zeliang on Tuesday visited the landslide-hit site near Phesama village to assess the situation.
Incessant rainfall triggered a massive landslide along the National Highway-2, causing significant damage between Phesama and Kisama while cutting off Imphal-Dimapur road (NH-2) and leaving several Manipur-bound and other vehicles stranded on both sides of the affected stretch.
According to an official statement, the Jakhama sub-division administration, led by SDO (Civil) Veneikho Tetso, provided some relief to stranded vehicles and coordinated initial response efforts.
Local organisations have also stepped in to assist.
Youth members from Phes-ama Baptist Church and the Phesama Youth Organisation constructed temporary footpaths to help stranded travellers navigate the damaged area.
They also distributed tea and snacks to those affected.
