Govt to crackdown on false pattas

Minister of MAHUD Th Shyamkumar has asserted that pattas given to shopkeepers/vendors over drains in between rows of shops/buildings within Imphal city would be cancelled if the pattas are found issued in fraudulent manner.
Shyamkumar was speaking at the May Day cum 10th foundation day celebration of the Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) at Khwairamband Ima Keithel yesterday.
Many hard working and dutiful members of KEDO were also felicitated during the function.
Th Shyamkumar handed over a four-wheeler vehicle 'Mahindra Jeeto' to KEDO worker Thokchom Sanathoi which will be used for ferrying drinking water.
He bought the vehicle with loan from KEDO Finance.
The annual souvenir of KEDO was also released on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shyamkumar asserted that issuance of pattas over drains constructed in between rows of shops/buildings has been posing serious hindrances to the efforts to keep Imphal city neat and clean.
All Government records pertaining to issuance of pattas to vendors/shopkeepers over drains during the past 15 years would be reviewed and all those found issued in fraudulent manner would be cancelled.
He appealed to the citizens of the State specially youth not to be ashamed while taking up any kind of work.
Stating that the youth of the State have a big role to play in improving the economy of Manipur, Shyamkumar exuded confidence that the State will progress once the citizens take up all kinds of work with emphasis on self-employment.
While highlighting the need to inculcate civic sense among all citizens so as to keep public places neat and clean, Shyamkumar announced that 200 dustbins would be kept in different locations across Khwairamband market.
Parliamentary Secretary (Home) Susindro Meitei appealed to the Government to provide 24X7 toilet facility for shopkeepers/vendors as well as KEDO workers.
Susindro Meitei assured that a loan of Rs 20,000 each will be given to KEDO workers in collaboration with Bandhan Bank.
He also promised similar loan facility to interested women vendors.
KEDO president Soibam Maniton presided the function.
