Senapati, May 02 2017:
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has given a week's time counting from the publication of this press release to the "authority concerned to respond" to its reminder on pathetic road condition of National Highway-2 in the stretch of Senapati district.
During the "second assembly" of Senapati District Students' Association
(SDSA) on April 29, the "house" took a serious view on pathetic road condition of NH-2 in Senapati district stretch.
Despite the repeated reminders and press releases on the gravity of the matter* the meeting noted that satisfactory measures have not come forth so far to improve the dilapidated road condition.
SDSA said that while it was observed that "the fast deteriorating road condition of NH-2 in Senapati district strech with poor quality at its execution period and left to its own care later was mainly due to over-laden truckers/ tankers that ply almost daily in hundreds while catering to the entire State, the worsening road condition continues to create nuisance even to the local populace along highway with 80% now made up of potholes" .
The student body said that the "public consider this tendency of insensitivity of the department concerned and the State Government as total negligence of their responsibility".
Therefore, this statement intends to bring to the knowledge of the department concerned and higher authority that from the date of SDSA Assembly or after wide publicity of this press release or after bringing knowledge to the authority concerned whichever is earlier, a week's time of response shall be given.
Upon the expiry of the stipulated if the the matter is not attended to, SDSA shall be constrained to take up necessary measure, as it deems fit, to ventilate the grievances of the public, it stated.
On the random price rise of goods and expired goods that are reportedly available in the markets, SDSA said it will keep a close watch on the matter and necessary steps shall be initiated in the interest of the public.
On rampant usage of 'polythene' bags in the markets, SDSA requested the public to avoid usage of such materials which are harmful to the environment.
It stated that, SDSA as part of its polythene-free in the district campaign, would subsequently ask the "market vendors" to replace the plastic bags with other more eco friendly products.
The student body noted that "meeting has also strongly taken note of the inconveniences caused to the general public, especially those from far flung area, by the irregularity and unpunctuality of certain Government employees" .
In this regards, shouldering its social responsibility towards the welfare of the people, SDSA said it will keenly monitor the functioning of the district administration.
