MUWWA observes Foundation Day, felicitates retired members

Imphal, September 19 2026: Manipur University Working Women's Association (MUWWA) observed its Foundation Day and organised Annual Lunch Programme at MUWWA Office, Manipur University on September 18 .

Vice-Chancellor Prof R K Hemakumar Singh attended as chief guest, former Vice-Chancellor Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam as guest of honour, while MUWWA president Prof Memcha Loitongbam presided.

Prof Toijam Tampha Devi welcomed the gathering.

Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam recalled the growth of MUWWA as a distinctive platform bringing together women from different age groups and professions, and requested VC to strengthen the University creche centre.

Prof R K Hemakumar Singh congratulated MUWWA and assured all possible efforts to support working women and address genuine requirements.

The association felicitated retired members - Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam.

Prof K Shantibala Devi, Prof N Pramodini Devi, Prof M Damayanti Devi, Senior Assistant R K Bidyapati Chanu and Golmei Luninglu Kabuni.

Dr Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Dance and Music, was felicitated for receiving National Award to Teachers 2026 conferred by Ministry of Education.

She shared her journey as teacher and practitioner of Manipuri dance and Bharatanatyam.

Controller of Examinations T Shantikumar Singh, MUTA president Dr Kshetrimayum Narayan Singh and MUSA president RK Sanatomba Singh attended.
