Three persons accused of looting valuables from LPG bullet tankers at L Khengjang village area on March 17 have been arrested by Sapormeina police late night yesterday.
Sources said the three accused have been identified as Lamminsei Singsit (19) of Khengjang village, Paosanglen Singsit and Lungoumang Sitlhou of Damdei village.
The Sapormeina police had registered a case against unknown persons.
Further investigation is on, the police said.
Meanwhile, the truck drivers who had ceased work are back on the road today after they were assured protection by the Government yesterday.
The drivers' union had met Government representatives yesterday at the Secretariat and the Government had assured them to provide adequate protection and compensate for the loss they suffered in the March 17 incident.
It may be noted that some 120 tankers with escort were travelling towards Imphal when drivers of three LPG tankers were robbed of their mobile phones and about Rs 12,000 on March 17 by 5-6 unknown persons at Khengjang area.
Stones were also pelted damaging some of the tankers.
