The spontaneous protest and agitation witnessed here following the passing of three 'anti-tribal' Bills by the State Assembly is likely to siege the district for the second week as the JAC has today decided to relax the agi-tation merely for 5 hours on Sunday and Monday.
Meanwhile, several reports reaching here said the public of Parbung area had yesterday held a rally to pay their respect to the nine 'tribal martyrs' and burnt the effigy of local MLA Dr Chaltonlien Amo, who is also the HAC chairman.

It is also said that the public had vandalised the SDO office and set it on fire but the exact extent of damage cannot be immediately ascertained for now.
The JAC spearheading the agitation here has today decided to relax their agitation for 5 hours each (5 am to 10 am) on Sunday and Monday but maintained that it will resume immediately after each relaxation.
They have also claimed that a mass prayer meeting of all Church leaders, from Pastors to ordained Elders, will be held at Lamka public ground between 2-3pm on Monday under the aegis of Christian Goodwill Council.
Around 20 Pastors from EBC have today prayed for the families of the deceased and for those injured in the recent protest at the hospital campus and offered monetary aid.
CSOs from Chandel district including the KSO, KUMHUR, ATWU and other also visited the district to express their solidarity and offered monetary assistance to the families affected by the ongoing mass agitation.
