Red Shield Division undertakes major registration camp for ex-servicemen

Red Shield Division organized an ex-servicemen rally on December 1 at Leimakhong Military Garrison.
The rally saw participation by more than 2,000 veterans andveernaris'& dependents from all districts of Manipur.
During the rally, the World War II.
veterans, Chakra Awardees, disabled soldiers, gallantry award winners and veer naris in particular were felicitated and honored for their invaluable contribution towards Nation building.
Disabled veterans were given wheel chairs & other aids in the line with the theme 'Year of the Disabled', said a statement of PIB (Defence Wing).
The chief guest Lt Gen KH Singh (retd) in his address emphasized that the Nation is ever grateful to the veer naris and the entire veteran fraternity and they are a priority for the Army.
He stressed on the various Central/ State/Army welfare schemes for the ESM so that maximum personnel can draw benefits.
Secretary RSB Col SK Sharma (retd) said that veterans, serving defence personnel & their families total up to more than one lakh in the State.
Saying he is the only office holder in the RSB without support staff, he said it is a big challenge to meet the aspirations of the community.
GOC 57 Mountain Division, Maj Gen VK Mishra said that kiosks are being created where ESM can do online registration.
He added that more than Rs 12 crore pending dues have been credited to ESM accnts.
Maj Gen KP Singh, IGAR (South) who was also present at the event added that AR will provide all the assistance for registration of ESM.
The chief guest exhorted the younger generation to learn from the veterans and endeavor to emulate their lives to ensure a progressive and prosperous society and a better future for all.
The event was marked by the release of booklets on various welfare schemes being implemented by the Government for the benefit of Ex-servicemen fraternity.
The Red Shield Division together with the State administration and corporates set up over 40 stalls for the ESM for registering grievances, said the statement.
