Each one of us are responsible for protecting the environment, says Th Biswajit

Information and Public Relations Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh made a clarion call to preserve, protect the environment and fight plastic pollution.
Addressing the media persons in connection with World Environment Day at DIPR office in Keishampat, Biswajit stated that everyone has a responsibility towards protecting the environment and leave a clean and sustainable eco system for the future generations.
The Minister along with Secretary (IPR) Athem Muivah and Director H Balkrisna Singh planted tree saplings inside the premises as part of the observance.
The Minister also said that it is a proud moment not only for Manipur but for the entire country as India is hosting this year's World Environment Day, under the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution" .
Biswajit appealed to all shopkeepers to minimise the use of plastic bags and replace them with biodegradable carry bags.
He said that the people of Manipur should contribute in making the observance meaningful through practical and active participation and realise the significance of the day, apart from just planting a sapling.
As part of the observation, Biswajit met the officers and staff of the department for a brief interaction, wherein, the officers and staff put forwarded the infrastructural needs for better and smooth functioning of the directorate.
