Secretary of DONER Naveen Verma along with several officials from the Ministry today visited the project sites of North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP), a livelihood and rural development programme meant for transforming the lives of poor and marginalised tribal families in the region.
Verma and his team first landed at Ujung Makhong village where they briefed the SHGs and other implementing agencies.
The main event that was clubbed with a formal reception event was held at Bunglon village, wherein the team visited the pineapple farms and planted tree saplings as the visit happens to coincide with World Environment Day.
Addressing the event, Verma encouraged the officials of NERCORMP as well as the local communities to make use of locally available resources to elevate their life with succours from the projects.
He also laid emphasis on the need to utilise the resources that are locally available and to its maximum potential in order to sustain the very objective of the projects his Ministry has funded.
Former MP Kim Gangte, DC Churachandpur Shyamlal Poonia, SP Churachandpur Rakesh Balwal, AC to DC Khaikhopau Ngaihte, several other local officials along with Project Director NERCORMP Churachandpur D Khuala Vaiphei, their partner NGOs as well as representatives from SGHs accompanied and accorded a warm reception to the visiting officials comprising of Adrain Marbaning, Director (M&E) NERCORMP, SN Pradhan Joint Secretary DONER and Verma, at Bunglon.
