Imphal, October 15 2014:
Even as the Govt is deliberating to develop a wildlife sanctuary, the Bunning (Piulong) valley in Tamei subdivision of Tamenglong district which is endowed with natural beauty, has begun losing its undulating beauty slowly but surely.
During a recent tour to the valley, The Sangai Express observed that the natural beauty of Bunning valley, located around 15 kilometres north of Tamenglong district headquarters, has been diminishing slowly.
Logs and other forest produces were seen transported out of the valley through a road that passes through the middle of the valley.

Sprawled in an area of 115.8 square kilometres, Bunning valley, flourishing with different varieties of blooming herbs and bushes and various endangered wild animals, was proposed to be declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary by the Govt in September 1997 .
However, no steps towards the realisation of the proposal have been taken up so far.
The valley was occupied first by Kuki villagers.
After the settlers left the valley, just around 21 families of the Liangmei community occupied the area in 1997 .
There are around 51 households with a population of around 320 in the village.
The main produces of the village are Kanglayen and Uyen.
It further said that the Dy CM is a good talker but not a good doer.
