Mother's Care becomes NE's only NNF-accredited hospital

Imphal, October 27 2026: Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre (MCCHRC), Sagolband Moirang Leirak, has become the first hospital in Manipur and currently the only hospital in Northeast India to hold National Neonatology Forum (NNF) accreditation.

The hospital has been granted Level II-B accreditation effective from October 27, 2026.Alongside the recognition, NNF has authorised the hospital to conduct fellowship training for two post-graduate doctors and four nurses annually.

Neonatology is a specialised field dedicated to the care of newborns, particularly premature, low-birth-weight and critically ill babies.

The NNF fellowship provides advanced training in this field, offering doctors an opportunity to develop expertise in a super-specialty area and nurses to acquire specialised neonatal nursing skills.

The availability of this training within Manipur will help strengthen the region's neonatal workforce and create opportunities for professional development closer to home.

Its benefits are expected to extend beyond the institution as trained professionals contribute to newborn care across the region.

The hospital management acknowledged the leadership of Dr Khumanthem Ratankumar Singh, Chairman cum Managing Director, and the dedicated contribution of its doctors, nursing personnel, technicians and support staff.
