DHS & SHS hold training cum workshop

Directorate of Health Services, Manipur and State Health Society Manipur organised a one day training cum workshop on "Clinical Establishment Act & Medical Release from Judicial Custody" at Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM) Lamphelpat today.
Speaking as special guest at the event, Director Health and Family Welfare Services, Dr K Rajo Singh stated that although Clinical Establishment Act was passed by Parliament of India in August 2010, the act has not been implemented in the State till date.
While, in Manipur, the Nursing Home and Clinical registration Act 1992 registers Nursing Homes and restricts and imposes fine on unregistered Nursing Homes, he added.
Government doctors are also inspected on whether they are practising privately at Nursing Home, under the said Act.
Nursing Homes, Maternity Homes and Government Hospitals are registered and regulated under the Clinical Establishment Act 2010, he pointed out while adding that it is necessary for clinical establishments to register under the Act and are not allowed to operate if they are not registered.
Dr K Rajo further maintained that clinical establishments may face serious penalty if they are found not following the provisions of the act.
On the other hand, Medical release from Judicial Custody dispenses similar medical facilities to jail inmates.
Additional Advocate General Oinam Momota Devi, Director, Health & Family Welfare Services, Dr K Rajo, State Mission Director, NHM Manipur N Bandana, and Additional Director (PH) DHS Dr Kh Saheekumar Mangang attended the programme as dignitaries.
Advocate General, Medical Superintendents of different hospitals in the State, Medical Officers in charge of different districts were also present in the workshop among others.
