4 KNA-B cadres slain in gun battle with Manipur outfits

At least 4 Kuki militants have been killed in a gunfight in an area under Yangoupokpi, Kam-jong district early this morning.
The gunfight broke out between cadres of Kuki National Army � Burma (KNA-B) and Manipur based outfits near Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No 87 .
The four, killed in a fierce exchange of fire, were cadres of KNA-B, said sources.
The gunfight began at around 2.20 am after groups of KNA-B militants attacked cadres of Manipur based outfits in the area who were already alerted about the advancement of Kuki militants, said the sources.
The armed KNA-B cadres carried out the attack from three directions, prompting an immediate and intense retaliation from the side of the Manipur-based outfits, said the sources.

After an intense gunfight, the cadres of the Manipur based outfits pushed back the KNA-B cadres till Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No 87, and destroyed a camp of the Myanmar based group.
The gunfight lasted till 6 in the morning, and four cadres of Manipur-based outfits sustained injuries.
All of the cadres are in stable condition, said the sources.
After the firing stopped, the cadres of the Manipur based outfits combed the area and found four lifeless bodies of KNA-B cadres and recovered around 14 arms and ammunition.
The number of casualties on the side of KNA-B may be more, said the sources.
Meanwhile, a team of Assam Rifles deployed along the border areas have rushed to the spot and investigations have started, said reports.
