Imphal, December 02 2015:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Convener-in-Charge Khomdram Ratan on Wednesday announced that the committee will launch the next round of agitation from December 16 as the Government of Manipur has failed to fulfill the agreements signed between the Government and the representatives of JCILPS even after 100 days.
During an interaction with media persons at JCILPS office, Sega Road, Kh Ratan informed that the Government of Manipur had met representatives of JCILPS many times in the effort to bring an amicable solution.
"Later, the State Government and the JCILPS signed an agreement on August 25 last, but even after more than 100 days, the Government has failed to translate the agreement into action," said Kh Ratan.
He said the issue will be now be further discussed with various sections of people and different forms of agitation will be launched from December 16 onwards.
The JCILPS Convener-in-Charge also informed that an ultimatum has already been served on the Government.
In the ultimatum, JCILPS reminded the Government's failure to implement the agreements signed on August 25 last and pointed out the failure on constitution of Population Commission and Land Reforms Commission.
"You have even failed to take up any initiative on the implementation of the relevant clauses of the long-time concluded Agreements of AMSU and AMSCOC," said the ultimatum.
"Nothing has been done to provide financial assistance to all the persons injured during the course of the movement and financial and logistic support in the development of the Robinhood complex," reminded JCILPS.
JCILPS further warned the Government that delaying of the implementation of the agreements will only expose the "insincerity" of the Government in protecting the indigenous people of Manipur from extinction.
"The Government's duty does not end with just passing a bill in the Assembly," pointed out Kh Ratan and added that the Government should impress upon the Central Government to expedite the approval of the bills.
Condemning the Government's silence over the agreements, Kh Ratan called on the people of the State to take initiatives to protect the indigenous communities of Manipur.
He also stressed on the necessity of constituting a population commission and land reforms commission to check the unabated flow of outsiders into Manipur.
The interaction with media persons was also attended by JCILPS Co-Conveners Arjun Telheiba, BK Moirancha, Ksh Somorendro, JCILPS Women Wing Convener Lourembam ongbi Nganbi.
