Imphal, August 11 2011:
The common decision taken during a joint meeting of IOC officials, State Government officials and transporters on August 10 for the oil tankers and LPG bullets stranded at Khatkhati to come through Jiribam is not being complied with.
Notably, more than 100 oil tankers and LPG bullets are being stranded at Khatkhati.
The meeting, after taking due note of the possible shortage of fuel oils and LPG in the State due to the ongoing general strike, decided that the stranded oil tankers and the LPG bullets should take Jiribam route as compelled by the situation.
Even as representatives of transporters present at the meeting agreed to the decision, the stranded vehicles have not been complying with the decision.
Out of more than 100 oil tankers and LPG bullets stranded at Khatkhati, only 27 oil tankers and 10 LPG bullets left Khatkhati for Imphal through Jiribam this afternoon.
Another 150 trucks loaded with food items, cement and steel are also presently stranded at Khakhati.
