Bishnupur hosts Eat Right Mela

Bishnupur, June 24 2022:
Food Safety Administration, Bishnupur today organized a Walkathon and Eat Right Mela under the theme "Eat Safe, Eat Healthy and Eat Sustainable" at Kyamba Ningshing Shanglen in Bishnupur.
The inaugural function of the mela was attended by Irengbam Nalini Devi, MLA Oinam; Laishram Maniyaima Singh, Chairperson, Bishnupur Municipal Council and Dr L Raichandra, Chief Medical Officer, Bishnupur as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Irengbam Nalini Devi lauded women entrepreneurs and other womenfolk of the State for their crucial contribution towards development.
She encouraged healthy eating by stating that health is the most precious possession of every individual.
Irengbam Nalini Devi also inspected the food stalls set up at the mela by various entrepreneurs.

Earlier in the morning, Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Lourembam Bikram flagged-off the Walkathon event from Mini Secretariat complex.
The walkathon witnessed participation from school students and local clubs of the district.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the walkathon, Lourembam Bikram emphasised on the significance of balanced diet while informing that Eat Right Mela aimed at promoting awareness on safe and healthy eating through various engaging activities.
The Eat Right Mela was organized as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Apart from food stalls, painting competition, panel discussion, cultural programmes and musical concert were the other major attractions of the one day mela.
The Eat Right Movement is an initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to transform the country's food system in order to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for all Indians.
