Imphal, October 17 2014 : Apparent racial attacks on the people of north east continue, even as the accused in Bangalore assault on three Manipuris and another three perpetrators of the Gurgaon attack on Nagaland boys were arrested by cops of respective states.

In a fresh attack, a 24-year-old woman from Mizoram was murdered at her flat in south Delhi's Munirka area on Friday morning.

The incident was reported around 6 am when the cops received a call from an unidentified caller reporting the woman, identified as Juliet, was lying in a pool of blood in her flat with injuries on her head and thighs.

She was declared dead on arrival at hospital.

Police said that they detained the woman's male friend Virender Singh, a B-Tech student, for questioning.

Virender Singh was her flatmate.

Preliminary investigations suggest the woman had a fight with her friend last night and was hit with a heavy object on her head.

A case of murder has been registered.

The cops are suspecting the role of a few other people in the incident.

Inner Manipur MP, Dr.Thokchom Meinya has strongly condemned the recent attacks on the NE people in the Metros of Bangalore and NCR of Delhi.

The MP has described these incidents as acts of racial profiling and cowardice.

He urged the Union Government and Union Home and Law Ministries in particular for immediate legislation of an anti-racial law to effectively deal with such un-civilized acts.

Reacting to the series of hate crimes against the people of North east during the last few days, social activist Binalakshmi Nepram twitted 'a strong anti-racial law is the need of hour in India to ensure that all forms of racial abuse, discrimination, killings etc.

Meanwhile, three people were arrested Friday in connection with the attack on two youths from Nagaland in Gurgaon, police said.

Aloto Chishi alias Sukoy and Awana alias James, working in a call centre here, were injured when they were attacked Wednesday night in Sikanderpur area here near the Mehrauli border.

"Police arrested Gaurav Yadav alias Pony, 23, and his two tenants Ram Bihari and Vijay Kumar for attempt to murder," Nazneen Bhasin, deputy commissioner of police (east), told reporters.

Bhasin, who is also chief nodal officer for crime against people from northeast region, said the victims live as tenants in the home of Yadav's cousin.

"Nagaland youths Wednesday night had scuffle over some issue with Yadav but they reached a settlement.

Gaurav invited Sukoy and James to have drinks in the room of his tenant.

"The youths were attacked when they refused to have more drinks and were held hostage for whole night," she said.

Ram Bihari hails from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh while Vijay Kumar is from Nadia district in West Bengal, the officer said.

Both are in their 20s.The arrested people were Friday presented in a court, which sent them to judicial custody.

The Naga youths � in the age group of 22 to 25 years � were admitted to a state-run hospital here.

James was later shifted to a hospital in Delhi as his condition was stated to be critical.

On the other hand, the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) has strongly condemned the recent attacks on people of north east in other parts of India.

In a statement, AMSU demanded the state governments of Karnataka and Manipur as well as the union government to take urgent actions against the perpetrators of the hate crime happened in Bangalore a few days back.

The students' body of the state said 'it is unfortunate that the people of mainland India cannot treat the people of north east as Indians' .

Referring to the past incidents of racial attacks on the people of north east in other states of India, AMSU statement asserted that the state government has remained indifferent towards such issues, while trying to pacify the movements pertaining to such crimes from time to time.

In the meantime, Thadou Students Association, Delhi & NCR has called upon the central and state government s to implement more permanent remedial measures other than crises intervention to end such racially motivated crimes.

In a statement signed by its general secretary, the Association demanded inclusion of north east history and culture in educational curricula and framing of an anti racial law.
