Imphal, November 04 2026:
All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) will organise Ningol Chakkouba, the day of remembering our sisters, this year too at Khonghampat Awang Leikai Community Hall.
In a release, AMESCO said it has been organising the programme since 1993.The festival symbolises the unbreakable bond of love between brothers and sisters and among family members, a tradition preserved in society since time immemorial.
It said attempts by some to divide the State are still continuing.
Such attempts have now turned into enmity between communities, creating unrest across the State.
Today, trust between communities has been lost and the situation has become more painful, it said.
The influx of large numbers of outsiders has destroyed trust and love between communities, seriously affecting the demographic structure, economy and socioculture of the State.
Attempts are being made to eliminate indigenous communities and loot all resources of the State, it alleged.
AMESCO said all should clearly know who is responsible for the present situation, and communities must take major responsibility in preventing differences arising between them.
The indigenous communities, unique in the world, have been the backbone of the State and have contributed to its development, it said.
Unfortunately, attempts are also being made to bring in outside cultures and create divisions among communities, it claimed.
AMESCO appealed to all communities to take greater responsibility to protect the identity of the State and face the challenges together.
On the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba, AMESCO extended greetings to all sisters in the State and 'Manipuri Ningols' living outside.
It appealed to brothers and family members to give gifts using locally available products to help the State's declining economy, and requested shopkeepers not to increase prices of goods on account of Ningol Chakkouba.
