Ningol Chakkouba: AMSU, Consumers' Club Manipur appeal against overpricing essential commodities

The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has appealed all shopkeepers, business establishments and street vendors not to overprice essential commodities, goods and products by taking advantage of Ningol Chakkouba occasion.
A press release issued by information and publicity secretary of AMSU stated that a 50-member committee has been formed to conduct price inspection drives at different locations in Imphal, especially Paona Keitel and Thangal Keithel, from tomorrow.
It has further appealed all the shopkeepers, business establishments and street vendors to display the price range of different goods and essential commodities in front of their respective establishments/shops.
AMSU urged the Department concerned including Chamber of Commerce and Weight and Measure to also check any over pricing of essential goods and tempering of weighing machines.
On the other hand, Consumers' Club Manipur has also appealed all business establishments, shop keepers and street vendors operating at different districts of the State not to charge the rate of essential commodities and goods too high for the sake of Ningol Chakkouba occasion.
A press release issued by president of the club has further appealed not to utilize illegal /dummy weighing machines and adulterate goods in the name of profit.
It stated that every traditional weighing scale has been marked with validity and added that some items ordered online does not fulfil the warranty period as provided.
Consumers' Club Manipur has informed the people to report at Consumers' Club Manipur office or contact 7629933367 for frauds related matter regarding items/essential goods.
Appealing the farmers to use valid measuring scale at the upcoming farmers' fair on November 8, it urged the Weight and Measure Dept to take up necessary measures and to keep a strict vigil.
Stating that cases of theft and shoplifting frequently occur during festivities and occasions, Consumers' Club Manipur has urged the Imphal Municipal Corporation and City police to take prior initiatives to prevent such incidents.
It added that Consumers' Club Manipur will extend every possible help the consumers, who come for marketing from "November 5 till 8 .
