Imphal, November 20 2024:
The Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement (FIDM) has asked shopkeepers/ traders to not take undue advantage of the prolonged conflict and hike the prices of essential commodities.
In a release.
FIDM said the people of Manipur especially the weaker sections have been enduring extreme misery due to the prolonged conflict which has been going on in the State since May 3, 2023.FIDM maintained that shopkeepers and dealers have hiked the price of essential commodities adding more burden to the already affected people which is really unfortunate.
Saying that it would launch a drive to check price hike, FIDM said that shopkeepers/ traders would be held accountable for their own action if they are found hiking prices.
FIDM appealed to the State Government and Chamber of Commerce to pay special attention to the matter and take up necessary legal action against the defaulting shopkeepers.
Besides, FIDM also condemned the cold blooded murder of six innocent women & children in Jiribam district by Kuki Narco Terrorists and reimposition of AFSA, 1958 in the jurisdiction of six police stations in the State.
FIDM urged the Government to revoke AFSA, 1958 and take immediate steps to resettle and rehabilitate the internally displaced persons currently taking shelter in relief camps set up across the State.
