Mega cleanliness drive held ahead of World Tourism Day

Bishnupur, September 19 2026: As a part of the active preparatory activities undertaken ahead of World Tourism Day 2026, a mega cleanliness drive was organized today at the Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou, in Bishnupur District.

The Directorate of Tourism, Government of Manipur, together with the Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited (TCML), mobilized officials and volunteers early morning to ensure the venue is impeccably maintained for the upcoming state-level celebrations, said a press release by the Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited.

The cleanliness drive was headed by Namoijam Kheda Varta Singh, Secretary (Tourism), Government of Manipur, accompanied by senior departmental dignitaries including Khumanthem Diana Devi, Director (Tourism); Salam Padmapati, Additional Director (Tourism) and Khuraijam Amarjit, Senior Finance Officer (Tourism) .

Demonstrated through unified community engagement, the drive saw active participation from the Local Committee for Maintenance of Sangai Ethnic Park (Moirang Khunou), enthusiastic volunteers from 'For Better Kangleipak', staff members of Manipur Tourism, and a dedicated team from the Bishnupur Police.

The Department of Tourism has designated Sangai Ethnic Park as the principal venue for hosting the main events of World Tourism Day this year.

The official global theme for World Tourism Day 2026 is 'Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism' .
