Preparations begin for 77th Republic Day in Senapati and Kakching

Senapati/Kakching, January 14 2026:
District Administrations of Senapati and Kakching on Wednesday held preparatory meetings to review arrangements for the upcoming 77th Republic Day celebrations, while also taking stock of activities planned under National Road Safety Month.
In Senapati, the District Administration along with District Level Officers (DLOs), convened a preparatory meeting at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Marnoni Doley, who discussed work allocations among departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the Republic Day celebrations.
As part of the preparations, a district-wide cleanliness drive will be conducted on January 21.The DC urged all DLOs to carry out their assigned responsibilities with sincerity and coordination.
The DC also chaired a separate meeting on the observation of National Road Safety Month 2026 .

District Transport Officer Joseph Sangkhil briefed the members on past activities and sought greater cooperation for awareness and sensitisation programmes.
It was informed that the Transport Department, along with police personnel, will strictly enforce rules related to the helmet use, tinted glass, fake number plates and other traffic violations to ensure road safety.
Meanwhile, in Kakching, the District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya, chaired a preparatory meeting for the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.
The meeting was attended by the District Level Officers (DLOs) and representatives of various government departments, during which key responsibilities and arrangements for the celebrations were discussed.
The meeting was also attended by SP Kakching Priyadarshini Laishram, Additional Deputy Commissioner P Shantikumar Singh, SDO Waikhong, AC to DC and other district officials.
On the sidelines, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the District Transport Office (DTO), Kakching, has been made fully functional with effect from December 5, 2025, at Rooms No 15C and 18C on the ground floor of the DC Office Complex.
The newly operational District Transport Office will provide all services related to driving licenses and vehicle registration in accordance with existing rules and procedures.
