An awareness campaign on Measles and Rubella vaccination campaign (launched under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, UNICEF and WHO) in connection with dispelling the rumours associated with the campaign which prevented some community from taking part in the vaccination programme, was held at Minority Orphan and Backward Students Targeted Academy, Thoubai district today Speaking on the occasion, Darul Uloom Markaz Lilong assistant secretary, Alhaj Moulana Muheiyuddin stated that the ongoing trend of Muslim children (Meitei Pangal) refraining from getting Measles and Rubella vaccination, following some false rumours about the vaccination is very unfortunate.
He stated that the some miscreants spread a rumour that the vaccine is comprised of two (one in brown and another in white) and that the brown vaccines are given to Meitei Pangals and the white to Meiteis only and urged the people not to believe in such false rumours.
He clarified to all that the brown element is the vaccine in its solid form and the white element is distilled water and both the elements are combined in order to create the vaccine which is then injected to the children.
Moulana Muheiyuddin further stated that the miscreants who gave birth to such rumours with vested interests should be punished at the earliest.
