Imphal, April 05 2009: At least 554 out of 2193 polling stations across Manipur have been identified as hyper sensitive polling stations even as state election authority has decided to utilize 19307 state security personnel to assist the 65 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF), an official of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur said Sunday.

The elections to the two Lok Sabha seats in Manipur will go on poll on two phases on April 16 and 22 and no stone will leave unturned for the smooth conduct of the free and fearless election, the official said citing that Election Commission is giving highest importance to the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

With the completion of the categorization of the polling stations in all the nine districts across the state, 554 out of the total 2193 polling stations have been placed under hypersensitive category, 1305 of them have been placed under the sensitive while the remaining 334 has been declared as normal polling stations, the official disclosed.

Out of the total 1223 polling stations within the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency where the polling will be witnessed on the first phase on April 16, a total of 7283 state security including 1590 civil police, 3634 Manipur Rifles and 1939 others (home guard-673, forest guard 271, excise constable 282 and 413 personnel undergoing training) will be deployed apart from guarding the polling stations with CPMF provided by the Union ministry of home affairs.

MHA provided 20 more companies above the existing 65 CPMF to the state for utilization for the smooth conduct of the poll in the state in the first phase poll.

A total of 384 polling stations out of 1223 in the Outer constituency, have been declared as hypersensitive, 901 as sensitive while 170 of them.

170 of the total 970 polling stations in the Inner seat which the polling will conduct in the second phase, on April 22 have been identified as hypersensitive, 404 as sensitive while the rest as normal stations, the official said.

Except 274 polling stations lying within the seven assembly constituencies in Thoubal district and one in jiribam A/C of Imphal east district included in the Outer Manipur seat, the rest polling stations located extending to the five hills districts of the state.

The Outer Manipur (ST) seats is make up of five hills districts, Senapati, Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Chandel and Ukhrul and seven assembly segments from Thoubal district bordering with Chandel and Churachandpur districts and Jiribam sub-division of Imphal east.

Out of 318 polling stations in Senapati district, 105 have been categorized as hypersensitive while the rest 213 as sensitive polling stations.

No polling station has been observed as normal one.

In Ukhrul district out of the total 164 polling stations, 28 have been placed under hypersensitive, 69 under sensitive while the remaining 67 under the normal category.

Chandel district having 59 polling stations, 18 are kept under the hypersensitive category, 57 under sensitive while 24 under normal category.

Out of 130 polling stations in Tamenglong district, 72 are categorized as hypersensitive while 58 under sensitive.

No normal polling station in this district.

Churachandpur district where highest number of polling station located, 112 have been placed under hypersensitive, 135 as sensitive with normal polling station while Chandel district having lowest number of polling stations with 59 only, nine has been categorized as hypersensitive, 26 as sensitive while the remaining 24 as normal.

In the seven assembly segments in Thoubal district included in the outer seat, polling will witness at 238 polling stations, out of which 37 of them placed under hypersensitive category and the rest 201 under sensitive category.

In jiribam segment of the outer constituency, out of the 36 polling stations, 13 are hypersensitive while the rest 23 are sensitive polling stations.

The entire areas of four valley districts excluding the seven assembly segments of Thoubal and one in Imphal east covered the inner constituency where polling will be conducted in 970 stations.

Out of 355 polling stations in Imphal east district, 74 of them have been identified as hypersensitive while 164 as sensitive.

The rest 117 have been identified as normal in this district.

Imphal west district has 369 polling stations and out of these 25 are hypersensitive, 241 are sensitive and the rest 103 are normal polling stations.

Bishnupur district has 191 polling stations.

Out of these, 81 are hypersensitive while 110 of them are sensitive polling stations.

In the 59 polling stations in two constituencies in Thoubal district lying within the Inner seat, two polling stations have been placed under hypersensitive while the rest 57 are sensitive polling stations.
