Bishnupur, October 30 2026:
Nine individuals, including a woman, have been admitted to the District Hospital, Bishnupur, following a suspected food poisoning incident at Terakhongshangbi in Moirang Assembly Constituency.
The nine individuals reportedly fell ill after consuming 'Laphu eromba' (traditional chutney made from tender banana stem) during a gathering after attending a paddy transplantation programme at Terakhongshangbi on the night of October 27 .
Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti visited the patients at the District Hospital yesterday evening and enquired about their health and well-being.
He also interacted with the doctors on duty and hospital authorities to take stock of the situation.
As the patients were reportedly facing difficulties due to a shortage of medicines, the MLA extended assistance from his side following advice from the hospital superintendent.
With the dedicated efforts of the doctors, the patients, who were initially in critical condition, have shown improvement and are now reportedly out of danger.
