Imphal, July 27 2025: One house and several household properties were gutted by a devastating fire at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, Tera Makhong, Imphal West under Wangoi police station today.

The fire broke out from an LPG cylinder while cooking lunch this morning and it ravaged the house of one Huidrom Mangitombi Devi, sources said.

Soon after getting information of the raging fire, a team of fire tenders from Manipur Fire Service and Wangoi Police rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

Apart from causing substantial damage to the house, many household items including clothes, almirahs, gold jewellery, utensils, important documents and Rs five lakh in cash were destroyed by the fire.

Later, Wangoi AC MLA Khuraijam Loken visited the devastated family and assured financial assistance from his side and the Government.
