Kakching, November 20 2024:
Hiyanglam Kendra Development Committee (HKDC) strongly condemned and sought justice for the heinous killing of six individuals including women and children by Kuki militants at Jiribam during a meeting held yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting a two minute silence was also observed for the departed souls to rest in peace, said HKDC.
According to a press release issued by HKDC, the meeting also discussed the recent notification issued by Dr Yumnam Radheshyam Singh, MLA Hiyanglam AC, wherein he prioritized peace in the State to his office as an elected Member of the State Assembly.
The meeting welcomed the MLA's words but stated that at this juncture, when the State is burning, resigning from the post of MLA is unacceptable.
Instead the MLA should stay in office and try to protect and safeguard the territorial integrity of the State.
The decision to quit as MLA will be collectively made by the people of the constituency, said the HKDC press release.
It further added that resignation will not bring a resolution to the Manipur crisis, and as such.
Dr Yumnam Radheshyam should remain in office and mount pressure on the Centre and other concerned authorities to bring an end to the protracted conflict.
