'Promote local economy this Ningol Chakkouba'

Imphal, November 03 2026: Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup (SANULAL) has appealed to use only locally produced items during Ningol Chakkouba festival on November 11 .

Addressing the media at Thangjing Hall, Manipur Press Club today, SANULAL president Th Ibethoi Leima said the economic condition of the people has been severely hit since the outbreak of the conflict in May 2023 .

She appealed to married women visiting parental homes to gift local products and to parents and brothers to give local items as gifts, so that the festival is celebrated without harming the local economy.

She also urged CSOs, youth clubs and Meira Paibi groups to host Ningol Chakouba for displaced women staying in relief camps for the past 3 years and 6 months due to the conflict.

SANULAL will include displaced women in the celebration, she added.
