Imphal, January 02 2025: The Zeliangrong United Committee Manipur Valley (ZUCMV) has appealed to all groups and organisations to not call any bandh or blockade during the Gaan-Ngai festival which will be held for five days starting from January 12.Speaking to the media at Dewlahland today, Committee Maibon Phaomei said that Gaan Ngai is a major indigenous festival celebrated by the Rongmei Kabui people.

Appealing to all concerned to celebrate Gaan-Ngai by holding only the events such as dance, music and rituals which are inseparable with the festival, he advised the people to not celebrate the festival extravagantly and refrain from using loudspeakers.

Further appealing to the Government to not impose curfew during the period of Gaan-Ngai celebration, he prayed for the festival to bring peace in Manipur and facilitate resettlement of the displaced people.
