CPI celebrates 90th Foundation Day

Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council celebrated CPI's 90th foundation day at GM hall today.
CPI, Manipur State Council State secretary Dr M Nara said the party which was set up amid the turmoil of India's freedom struggle is among of the oldest political parties in India.
A party based on struggle, CPI also played a major role in Manipur's fight for independence.
Hijam Irabot was the founder of the party in the State.
The party has gained popularity and strength since then, Nara observed.
Nara alleged that the electoral system in the State is most corrupt.
The State still follows the electoral system introduced by the Britishers.
Highlighting the need for reformation of the existing electoral system, he said that a campaign is underway to put an end to the practice of distributing money at the time of election.
Dr Nara further pledged to strengthen the party in the State.
Manipur State Council, CPI deputy secretary N Mangi said the 90th foundation day of the party is being celebrated all over the Nation.
He further maintained that CPI, in Manipur has been taking active role in social issues and protests.
Control Commission Chairman B Sharma, Manipur State Council, CPI, secretariat member Laishram Sotinkumar and party comrades took part in the celebration.
