SUK condemns assault

Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has strongly condemned the assault of its member.
SUK president L Jayanta Kumar Khuman, in a press meet held at the union's office at Moirangkhom said one of its members, Chingakham Joykumar (22) and his friend Chingakham Okendro (22) of Andro Lamthanung Leikai, were attacked by a group of six persons at Palace Compound near Buddhachandra College on December 16 at around 7.30 pm while returning from New Checkon.
The assaulters were collared by Imphal East district police the same day.
Three of the arrested assualters were released after their statements were recorded at CJM Court.
The remaining three will be produced before the Imphal East CJM Court on December 28, the union president said.
Demanding detention of the three accused who are still in police custody, Jayanta Kumar has appealed to all the concerned to refrain from repeating the act in future.
