Imphal, December 26 2015 :
Retired DGP Y Joykumar has decried the Government's initiative to set up a Ramkrishna Mission Private School after closing down Tondonsana High School, Lamphel.
Speaking to media persons at his Naoremthong residence today, Joykumar asked whether the proposed Ramkrishna Mission Private School would be established under Ramkrishna Mission Authority or somebody else.
Saying that he himself did his schooling in a Ramkrishna Mission school, the former DGP questioned why the word 'private' is attached to the name of the Ramkrishna Mission school which is proposed to be set up in the State while none of the Ramkrishna Mission schools located in other States have the word 'private' in their names.
If the proposed Ramkrishna Mission school should be set up at the place where Tondonsana High School stands today with its administrative block at Bengali High School, there would not be enough space for it would require 30 to 40 acres.
The Government's initiative to set up a private school after abolishing Tondonsana School which is a residential model school run by the State Government is rather destructive, Joykumar remarked.
Asking the Government to introspect on the downfall of Government schools in the State, Joykumar suggested Jiribam if a Ramkrishna Mission school should be established in the State.
