Shirui Lily Festival : Veronica Awungshi crowned Miss Spring

Imphal, April 28 2018: With her grace, her understanding of the essence of Shirui Lily, her presence of mind, eloquent answers to questions and her understanding of the message behind organizing the Shirui Lily Festival, Veronica Awungshi was crowned Miss Spring, a component of Shirui Lily Festival in front of a packed Bakshi Ground, Hunpung on April 25 .

The title Miss Spring carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and citations.

Introduced this year, in the second edition of Shirui Lily Festival, the Miss Spring contest was sponsored by North Eastern Council and added more colour to the festival that was held in the name of the State flower.

Sushna Maibam walked away with the Best Personality crown, Danube Kangjam the Graceful Walk title, Sushma Longjam the Best Arms and Legs title while Wungchanphy Lunglen was crowned the Best Hair title.

The four were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each.

Miss Spring is based on the traditional Tangkhul concept of Laa Khanganui/Ngala Khangayan.

The pageant also reflects the basic elements of Spring-rebirth, rejuvenation, regrowth, while it carries the substance of love, modesty, purity and peace which is akin to the essence of a young maiden.

The pageant featured renowned fashion designer Asa Kazingmei, fashion stylist and choreographer Thotreichan Sasa, hair and make up artist Hormung.

The panel of judges included Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo who is the first Naga supermodel to be awarded the Vogue and Colours Affinity Young Achiever at Vogue Woman of the Year Awards, 2017 .

She has also graced the covers of Vogue, Grazia, Elle and Harper's Bazaar, besides shooting editorials for all the major magazines including Bazaar Bride, L'officiel and Vogue Italia.

Ningshimyao A Shimray better known as Pearl is a cultural and social activist.

She is a craft enthusiast, a studio potter and a crafts designer by profession.

Rajeev Sethi, a well known architect, designer and cinematographer and Ningshimyao who founded an NGO called 'The Hao Heritage Foundation " in 2009 .
