The students of Ahmedabad High School in Jiribam district staged a protest demonstration in the school campus today against the transfer order of Headmaster in-charge and Assistant Teacher from the school.
The aggrieved students demanded that the transfer order should be revoked at the earliest failing which the students will launch intense agitation in association with the School Management Committee and locals of the area.
The protesting students chanted Slogans such as 'We condemn transfer of teachers from our school', 'Save the career of students', etc.
The School Management Committee (SMC) has also denounced the transfer of teachers from the school when it is facing inconvenience due to shortage of teachers.
In this regard, the SMC has also submitted a memorandum to the local MLA, Deputy Commissioner and Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Jiribam to revoke the transfer order at the earliest.
General secretary of the student union of the school, Sakina Begum highlighted that the school is struggling due to shortage of teachers.
Amid the existing inappropriate teacher-student ratio in the school, issuing transfer order of teachers is against the interest of the school and the students in particular, she remarked.
She went on to state that only 15 teachers are imparting education to 675 students in the school at the moment.
She cautioned that the students might be compelled to take up the intense step of locking the school if the transfer order is not revoked at the earliest.
