SWA celebrates Foundation Day

Imphal, January 14 2026:
Struggling Women's Association (SWA), Kangleipak celebrated its 8th Foundation Day at Ima Yaipha Shanglen Community Hall in Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak today.
The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including Waikhom Joymati Devi, OC, Women Police Station, Imphal West; Th Romibala, president, SWA; RK Sanahanbi, president, Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL); Pushpa Gurumayum, Advocate, High Court of Manipur and secretary, High Court Bar Association Manipur; and Moirangthem Monali, Assistant Professor, Department of Fine Arts, Manipur University.
Kh Chinglen Luwang, Advocate and legal advisor, SWA also attended the event as a resource person.
Speaking on the occasion, SWA general secretary Keithellakpam (o) Thounaojam Margaret said that since its inception in 2018, SWA has been focused on empowering women and advocating for their rights within the patriarchal social structures of the region.
She asserted that the association has also been actively working to address the socio-economic and political issues affecting women in Manipur.
Margaret also informed that SWA has several branches, including a notable one in Jiribam.
As part of the event, the gathering observed two minutes of silence to pay tribute to the lives lost in the ongoing ethnic conflict.
