Gurus leave Imphal to conduct Nata Sankirtana workshop

Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal in collaboration with Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal will be organising workshops on "Nata Sankirtana" in different places of Assam and Tripura for 15 days.
A formal send off ceremony was held on Monday for the 12 Gurus of JNMDA, Imphal, who will be conducting the workshops in Jaribon Kala Akademi, Madripur (Lala), Assam; Chinglen Singh Memorial Welfare Society Jaragul, Cachar, Assam; Barak Museum & Library, Bantarapur, Cachar, Assam and Manipur Literacy & Cultural Forum Tripura, Agartala.
The ceremony held at JNMDA, Imphal complex was attended by JNMDA, Imphal, Vice Chairman, Longjam Joychandra; JNMDA, Imphal, Director, Pukhrambam Bilash Singh; and Manipur State Kala Akademi Imphal, Deputy Secretary, Keisham Rajmani Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Longjam Joychandra said that during the 15-day workshop, the Gurus of JNMDA will disseminate the values and ideas of Nata Sankirtan to the Meeteis residing in Assam and Tripura.
He also emphasised on the importance of learning Nata Sankirtana by the youths so that the rich heritage of this art is carried forward.
Pukhrambam Bilash asserted that Nata Sankirtana is a sublime cultural form which paves way for one to transcend from material world to spiritual world.
He called for collective effort to safeguard, preserve and promote the art form left behind by ancestors.
