Imphal, October 27 2026:
A Free Assessment Camp for Senior Citizens and Divyangjan (Persons with Disabilities) commenced today at Lainingthou Khamlangba Community Hall, Sagolband Moirang Leirak.
The camp was jointly organised by the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC), ALIMCO, PMD-VK Imphal and CRC-SRE, Imphal, in association with the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, under the supervision of Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh.
During the programme, around 100 senior citizens were assessed to identify their needs and determine eligibility for assistive devices and other support.
The assessment aims to facilitate provision of essential equipment including walking sticks, walking frames, wheelchairs, crutches, hearing aids and other assistive devices, subject to individual assessment.
The assessed beneficiaries are expected to receive their respective assistive devices by the end of November after completion of necessary procedures.
The initiative reflects a commitment to grassroots governance and doorstep delivery of public services, ensuring benefits of welfare schemes reach those who need them most, particularly those who face difficulties travelling to distant centres.
The assessment programme will continue tomorrow at Haorokchambi Community Hall.
All eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities residing in the area and neighbouring localities have been urged to avail the opportunity.
