Ukhrul, October 24 2026:
The Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT) has expressed dismay and serious concerns over the shortage of adequate teaching staff at Chakpikarong Higher Secondary School.
In a press release, the union's general secretary, WL Jonah Ningtung said that despite repeated appeals to the authorities concerned to address the issue of shortage of teachers, no concrete action has been taken so far to resolve this issue.
The union stated that the Chakpikarong Higher Secondary School serves as a vital educational hub for students not only from the Anal community but also from neighbouring communities, including the Meiteis and Kukis.
As per ALT, the school has 63 students managed by only five teaching staff and raised concern that the shortage of teachers has been affecting the functioning of the school compelling the parents to enrol their children at private educational institutions.
The Anal Naga Students' Union recalled that it met with the District competent authority on August 27, 2026 to seek a resolution.
'Following the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chandel directed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) Chandel to write to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Chakpikarong (In-charge) to conduct a field inspection of the school and submit a detailed report.
However, to this day, the SDO Chakpikarong (In-charge) seems to have failed to conduct the required field inspection and no copy of the report has been shared with the union', ALT stated.
The inaction of the authority concerned has delayed to resolve the pressing issue, the student body alleged.
The student body expressed disappointment over what it described as administrative apathy, stating that the developments had raised serious questions about the functioning of the district administration.
Urging the authorities concerned to discharge their duties with sincerity and accountability, the union called for an end to unnecessary delays and demanded immediate intervention to resolve the shortage of teaching staff and other related issues at the school.
The Anal Naga Students' Union appealed to the District Administration and the departments concerned to take prompt and concrete measures to address the grievances of Chakpikarong Higher Secondary School in the larger interest of the student
community in the region.
