SBI conducts financial literary camp

The Daithao Village Level Federation (VLF), promoted under the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), held its 1st Foundation Day-cum-General Body Meeting on Wednesday at Thangal (Longjang) village, Noney district.
To mark the occasion, the State Bank of India (SBI), Noney Branch, conducted a Financial Literacy Camp aimed at empowering SelfHelp Groups (SHGs) and promoting financial awareness in the community.
Daithao VLF, currently consisting of 10 active SHGs, has been actively working to enhance rural livelihoods and women's empowerment through collective action and savings-based initiatives.

The event was held with SBI Noney branch manager Ramas Riamei as the chief guest and MSRLM Noney officials namely Thaimei Genuine Tigongrei and Peter Riamei as special guests.
In his keynote address, Ramas Riamei stressed the importance of financial literacy and inclusion in achieving sustainable rural development.
He gave a detailed overview of various banking schemes and financial products available through SBI, including MUDRA loans, PMEGP, Stand-Up India, and social security schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY.
Highlighting the potential of the local economy, the chief guest encouraged the VLF to explore a major livelihood project in food processing, leveraging locally available food resources.
He assured the continued support of SBI in guiding and financing viable group-based enterprises and rural entrepreneurship.
MSRLM officials lauded the collaborative efforts between SBI and Daithao VLF, highlighting the importance of such partnerships in building community capacity and expanding access to essential financial services.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which SHG members engaged with officials to deepen their understanding of banking procedures and explore future project opportunities.
