Imphal, August 11:
The Manipur Forward youth Front (MAFYF) has lined up a series of agitation in pursuance of demands for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 from Manipur and punishment of guilty 17 Assam Rifles personnel in connection with the gunning down of Thangjam Manorama Devi after arrest.
It is pertinent to mention that MAFYF is a constituent body of the 32 organisations spearheading the ongoing agitation in the wake of Manoramas extra-judicial killing.
Talking to reporters today the Front president Sapamcha Kangleipal iterated that with effect from tomorrow mass sit-in-protests would be staged from morning followed by torch rally after dusk for an indefinite period till the peoples demands are conceded.
Terming the deadline set by Chief Minister O ibobi Singh for a definite decision of the State Government on the Armed Forces Special Powers Act issue as delaying tactics, Kangleipal also expressed that even the family members of the Chief Minister would have no reservation in scrapping the draconian Act.
Asserting that the State people would not retreat at any cost till the demands are conceded, he further maintained that MAFYF has geared up to take active part in various forms of protests as declared by the 32 organisations to observe August 15 as Demand Day.
