Traditional garments launched

Traditional garments Namkhwang Phurit (half-jacket) and Piba Phige (shawl) produced by Kanglei Phigeikon were officially launched today at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club.
Kanglei Phigeikon is an enterprise engaged in production of traditional items of clothing.
The ceremony was graced by Keisham Sohodeva, Zilla Parishad Member, Phumlou AC; M Joy, Commissioner, Art & Culture and Yumnam Robita, Director, Trade, Commerce and Industries as presidium members.
Ng Kangjia Mangang, retd Principal, Presidency College, Motbung and present Maichou Purel of Sana Konung attended the event as resource person while L Rima, Director and Product Coordinator, Kanglei Phigeikon presented a slide show of the products.
Delivering the keynote address, Mutum Churamani, Chairman, Kanglei Phigeikon, said that the enterprise had launched the Namkhwang Phurit and Piba Phige for Meitei men settled in different parts of the world to wear.
The collar of the half-jacket is adorned with the colours of the seven clan (Salai Taret) and Khamjeng Paphal on the left breast pocket.
Additionally, a Ningkham Shamji pattern on the base of the half-jacket adds to its appeal.
For people interested in ordering these garments, Churamani informed that a facility for home delivery is also available.
