Jiribam, November 21 2024:
Jiri Apunba Lup (JAL) has expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the eight innocent civilians who were brutally killed by armed Kuki militants at Jiribam.
Terming the incident which occurred on November 11 as inhumane and barbaric, JAL in a release stated that the Kuki armed militants brazenly entered Jakuradhor village, a Meitei area, in broad daylight and set ablaze various houses in front of the CRPF personnels.
Tragically, two elderly villagers, Laishram Barel Singh (63) and Maibam Kesho Singh (71) were burned alive at the scene and a total number of sixteen houses were destroyed in the arson attack.
When the security forces retaliated, a fierce cross fire ensued, resulting in the death of ten Kuki militants and grievously injuring a CRPF jawan, added JAL.
On the same day, six innocent civilians including three women and children were abducted and subjected to inhumane torture and alleged sexual violence before being killed, JAL claimed.
JAL continued that the lifeless bodies of Telem Thoibi, Telem Thajamanbi and Laishram Lamnganba were discovered floating in Barak River on November 15 and the bodies of Yurembam Rani and Laishram Chingkheinganba were found on November 17 while the body of Laishram Heitonbi was discovered on November 18.JAL claimed that this incident provides irrefutable evidence that these militants were not merely village volunteers protecting their communities.
Their heavily armed presence in conjunction with their inhumane action clearly identifies them as organised terrorists, alleged JAL.
Most of the militants including those who were gunned down by the CRPF were from Churachandpur and Pherzawl district.
Claims from their affiliated organisation attempting to portray them as innocent village volunteers are baseless, false and unacceptable, said JAL.
JAL further continued that it will stand united in condemning the heinous act of the Kuki militants and demandjustice for the victims.
JAL also condemned the brutal murder of Khundrakpam Athouba Meitei (24), s/o Khundrakpam Tomba Meitei of Kamranga (Khuningthek) by police personnel in a protest movement against the brutal killing of the eight innocent civilians by Kuki militants.
In the incident, Keisham Bison Singh (26), s/o Keisham Bijen Singh also sustained bullet injury, JAL added.
JAL urged the relevant authorities to take necessary action for justice against the murderer as per law.
