HC dismisses poll case against MLA Arunkumar

Imphal, June 04 2025: The High Court of Manipur has dismissed the election petition filed against Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar citing insufficient evidence presented to support the allegations.

Hearing on the election petition filed by Yumkham Erabot as the petitioner - and Thangjam Arunkumar and others as respondents - was held at the court of justice Ahanthem Bimol on May 30.As per a report submitted to the High Court on May 16 by advocate commissioner appointed for the election petition, the counsel for the petitioner failed to produce any evidence and did not even co-operate with the examination of evidence and statement recording during the hearing.

The report also appealed to the court to pass order it deems fit as the petitioner did not cooperate and was unwilling to produce evidence.

After perusal of the appeal and petitioner's unwillingness to continue the petition, the court passed an order dismissing the election petition.
