CM meets CSOs, JCILPS

Imphal, May 19 2018:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh met leaders of various CSOs, including JCILPS, today in connection with drafting of Manipur Peoples' Protection Bill for protection of the indigenous people of the State.
According to an official source, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar and many other Ministers also took part in the meeting which was held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat today morning.
Leaders of various CSOs like JCILPS, Zomi Council, Kuki Inpi and representatives/leaders of Hmar, Aimol and Meitei Pangal communities participated in the meeting.
However, the source pointed out that no one from the UNC side took part in the meeting due to the tripartite talk held at Senapati today.
The source further informed that a consultation committee led by Works Minister Th Biswajit, was formed to look into the Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill which had been kept on hold by the President of the country.
Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian, Health Minister L Jayantakumar, TD Minister N Kayisii, MLA P Saratchandra, MLA K Leishiyo and representatives of various CSOs will also be incorporated as members of the committee, the source added.
The committee will collect feedback from various communities and a Bill acceptable to all the communities would be tabled at the State Assembly.
