The bandh called in Yairipok area from 4 am to 8 pm today in protest not just against unaffordable monetary demand from one UG group on the shop-keepers of Yairipok Bazar and also in decry of placing a bomb in a shop in this connection thus causing fear and panic among the people ended peacefully.
However, normal activities of the people remained affected on account of the bandh called in accordance to the resolution adopted during a public meeting on May 23 .
All the shops and market places remained closed and passenger buses stayed away from the roads of Yairipok area during the bandh.
However, Government offices remained functional and the employees attended to
the duties.
Meanwhile, while asserting that PULF had never imposed any unbearable amount of money from the people and the money collected by the shop-keepers themselves to be given to the outfit had been handed over to the Assam Rifles by some shop-keepers, secretary publicity cell of the outfit Saroz Khan has as a last warning cautioned the shop-keepers of Yairipok Bazar against any attempt to mislead the outfit through calling of bandh and general strike and hobnobbing with the security forces.
