Imphal, September 19 2026: Apunba Khorirolgi Malemgee Lup organised a one-day Poetry Festival at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul, on Saturday.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including Ningthemcha Sana Yaima, former chairman of UNLF; Apunba Khorirolgi Malemgee Lup president, Waikhom Amuchou; Nongmaithem Kirankumar, former Convenor, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi; and Sahitya Akademi awardee Birendrajit Naorem.

Speaking on the occasion, Ningthemcha Sana Yaima said the poetry festival organised by the lup is commendable and will encourage poets.

He said writing books based on the history and folklore of the State is important to make future generations aware of history, and urged poets to produce quality works.

Later, retired Associate Professor Dr Longjam Saratchandra of DM University and columnist Moirangthem Netrajit moderated a poetry recitation session.
