Imphal, July 14 2010: The Campaign for Survival of AMADA to create awareness to the people on price rise in the state, after conducting its campaign at different parts of Imphal city and after submission of a memorandum against price rise, reached Kakching today.

The campaign was held at Irabot Park, Kakching Bazar on its seventh day of campaign.

Members of different clubs at Kakching area and nearby villages took part in the programme.

Speaking at the programme, secretary general of AMADA headquarters, Ph Phoni expressed exclaim when the 68 day economic blockade was imposed on the national highways by ANSAM and UNC.

It was a record breaking economic blockade in the world, he said asserting that the blockade was against humanity.

People assumed that lifting the economic blockade would relief the burden on price hike but scarcity still hit the state and essential commodities are still selling in high price.

He mentioned that match box which was available earlier at rupee one are now selling at 2 and LPG cylinder who actually cost only rupees 330 are now selling in rupees 1,900 .

He declared that atrocities, disturbances including death and destruction are perpetrated in the primary lifeline of the state, NH-39 undeterred and questioned the government what steps has been taken up to check the menace so far.

Boni said that people have lost confidence on ImphalDimapur route and drawn the attention of the government to acknowledge people's sentiment about the route.

The secretary left no hesitation to mention that the decision not to continue plying NH-39 as right one and call upon the government to convert NH-53 as primary lifeline of the state.

He didn't miss out to add that state is suffering because of negligence in maintenance and development works meted out to NH 53 .

The Campaign for Survival held by AMADA at Kakching today was attended by President, AMADA headquarters Padmini Leima, Member, Consumer Dispute Redrassal Forum Thoubal and Chandel, L Rameshwor, General Secretary, Consumer Club Manipur, Ch Nabachandra, President Drivers' Union Manipur besides public of Kakching market and nearby villages.
