Rotary Club, RIMS conduct tree plantation drives

In continuation of the Van Mahotsav 2025 celebration, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised a tree plantation drive today underthe theme, "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0".As per a release issued by RIMS, the plantation drive was held at the designated site extending from the southern side of the Dissection Hall, Department of Anatomy, to the eastern side of the Mini Auditorium within the RIMS campus.
Speaking at the event, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal said, "Van Mahotsav serves as a reminder of our responsibility toward environmental stewardship and sustainable living".
He stated that RIMS must lead by example, not only in healthcare but also in fostering a healthier environment.
The Director also reiterated the importance of nurturing the planted trees to ensure their long-term survival and ecological impact.
The event saw active participation from the Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, Deputy Director (Admn), Dean (Academics), Nodal Officer, SAP/Kaya Kalp, RIMS, Imphal, Heads of Departments, students and staff of CRED & MSS, RIMS, Imphal.
A wide variety of indigenous and shade-bearing tree saplings were planted to enhance the green cover and contribute to ecological preservation.
Moreover, Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal organised a tree plantation drive today at Manipur Pony Breeding Farm, Lamphelpat under the theme, "Go Green Manipur" and slogan, "Save Pony, Save Polo".
Members of Manipur Horse Riding Association and Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal led by the club's president Dr RK Ratankumar planted about 200 tree saplings during the drive to foster a cleaner and greener environment in the State.
