Chopper-like object crashes at Ukhrul?

Ukhrul, August 20 2015 : A flying object, suspected to be a chopper, is reported to have crashed at the border area of India and Myanmar in be-tween Wahong of Ukhrul district and Leiyum village of neighbouring Myanmar which is close to border pillar no.130 in the midnight of August 16 .

A woman believed to be a survivor of the crash has been handed over to Tusom CV headman after she was administered first aid at a hospital in Somrah sub-township of Myanmar.

No detail report including the number of casualties could be ascertained yet.

The surviving woman speaks little Hindi and other Indian languages.

However, she declined to reveal her identity so far, according to the villagers.

The woman is reported to have told the villagers that she is a survivor of the chopper crash.

At the same time, she showed signs of memory lost.

She said that she is from Delhi, according to the Ukhrul DC.

However, both Assam Rifles and Indian Air Force authorities mainatined that there is no report of missing aircrafts or helicopters.

Meanwhile, the State Home Dept has sent a police team to bring back the survivor.

Assam Rifles troops have also started moving into the area.

Reports culled from the border area said that villagers were awakened by a loud sound in the interior forest, inside the Myanmar territory, in the midnight of August 16 .

However, due to incessant rain, the nearby villa- gers could not get into the site and determine the fact.

They however suspect it to be a chopper.

So far the exact location of the crash site is yet to be ascertained although nearby villagers are certain that the location is in the area of border pillar 130 �between Wahong of India and Leiyum of Myanmar.

The area is covered with dense forest, which is very difficult to penetrate particularly during monsoon season as there is no particular pathway deep inside the thick forest.

The villagers said that on Tuesday Leiyum villagers came across a lady�fatigued and famished with burnt dress, lying near a cowshed of the village.

Seeing her condition, the villagers immediately rushed her to the nearest Myanmar hospital at Somrah sub-township where she was administered first aid.

She was discharged from the hospital soon after she recovered.

The villagers assumed her to be Indian national as she wears a ring on the nose and applied vermilion/sindoor on her forehead.

Due to language barriers, she did not interact with the Myanmarese hosts.

On request, the lady has been handed to Tusom CV Indian village.

She is taken care of by the Tusom CV villagers.

She even refuses to disclose any details of the crash, and her purpose of travelling in the area, the villagers said.

The lady has now recovered fully.

She is safe and sound in the hands of the Tusom CV villagers, they added.

The lady is likely to be brought to Ukhrul and handed over to the authority concerned at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that Tusom CV is about 140 kms away from Ukhrul district headquarters and the link road is in a deplorable condition.
